Man 2 Man / The Fast
(Edited from recordnotes on the cd The Best Of The Fast: 1976-1984 released by Bullseye Records Of Canada)

Born of youthful exuberance The Fast rocketed to obscurity from 1975 to 1984. Mind you, not because of talent, connections or laziness. Truly, the band's story is the stuff rock'n'roll legend is made of.

Brothers Miki Zone, Armand Zone and Paul Zone form The Fast in the early 70's New York Glitter Rock Scene, at a time when the biggest unsigned group around was The New York Dolls. By 1975, when The Fast starts recording, they are an integral part of the Max's Kansas City / C.B.G.B Punk Rock beginnings, alongside Blondie and The Ramones. The Fast release a few singles and a debut LP produced by Ric Ocasek of The Cars by the end of the 70's.

As the 80's starts, the music and the look of the group takes a turn into the deviant style of Leather and Goth. Disenchanted with their lack of success, in 1982, Miki and Paul reinvent themselves again, this time as an electronic duo. For the next two years, they perform and record a couple of songs with New Wave Dance producer Bobby 'O' (Pet Shop Boys, The Flirts and Divine).

The brothers change their name to Man 2 Man in 1985. They meet Man Parrish that same year and record two songs in his homestudio in Brooklyn: 'Male stripper' and 'All men are beasts'. It is released as 12 inch single with 'All men are beasts' on the A-side and 'Male stripper' on the b-side in Mexico. DJ's pick up the record and start playing the B-side. In Europe the single is released with 'Male stripper' on the A-side. With this release they have their biggest success in the Pop Dance market for the next few years; resulting with number one radio hits in England, Germany, Australia and Mexico along with top dance singles throughout Europe.

On December 31st 1986 Miki Zone dies of AIDS.

Paul continues performing as Man 2 Man. In 1988 Paul teames up with his brother Armand and Man Parrish to record 'Do ya wanna funk' as Zone Bros. Angela Bowie records 'Obsession' written and produced by Man Parrish and Paul Zone in 1989 and one year later Paul teames up with Debbie Harry to record 'I'll try anything once'.

Armand Zone dies from AIDS in 1996.

In 2002 Paul Zone sings on the track 'Series of You's' on Kristian Hoffman's album called '&' released on CD by Eggbert Records.
